Lafayette County Literacy Council

Description

The Lafayette County Literacy Council (LCLC) is a nonprofit, community-based agency founded in 1996 to promote the importance of literacy for both children and adults. The agency’s mission is to improve the quality of life in Oxford and Lafayette County through literacy and reading.

United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County helps fund the organization’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) program. The DPIL program provides a quality, age-appropriate book on a monthly basis to registered Lafayette County children between the ages of birth to five years. The program seeks to ensure all children have books at home, regardless of the environment in which they live.

Volunteer Opportunities: The LCLC can use volunteers in their Reading Rockets, Book Brigade, Literacy Night at More Than a Meal, and Book Exchange programs
